Life Model Review :

Simon began modelling when he first moved to London in his early twenties.
Following a conversation with the Head of Art and Design at a local college, he was put in touch with the lecturer in charge of the evening Life Drawing Class.

At the time there was a shortage of models and, having posed for one class, Simon was surprised at how many further opportunities came his way. He soon learnt to work with tutors and artists, to create imaginative poses, and how good studio lighting can accentuate colour and allow shadow to pick out the contours of the body. Whilst he was still quite young, Simon found that the sense of self-awareness this gave enhanced his general self- confidence.

For Simon, modelling is just one of a number of hobbies, including cycling and dog training, which he fits in around his professional life managing commercial buildings. His career, took him to live in the both the North West and East Anglia, before returning to London, a year ago. He has already started modelling again in Bethnal Green, where he has posed alone and with other models, both male and female.

Photographic work is something that Simon avoided for a number of years. However, he has come to recognise what a powerful tool it can be in allowing artists to produce finished work of more dramatic poses, which even the most experienced of models cannot hold for long. He is now comfortable using this media as a part of genuine fine art projects.

Simon is willing to pose for groups in the West London area for up to 3 times a year.
He is keen to hear from artists planning any particularly interesting projects which they feel he might be able to assist with. He is also happy to support Life Drawing groups which are struggling to get started where numbers and, consequently resources, are limited.
