Artist Profile:

I am a self-taught artist with a lifetime passion for drawing and painting. My subject interests are eclectic but, over the past several years, I have developed a particular interest in life drawing. Working mainly in charcoal and pastel, my preferred style reflects a fondness for chiaroscuro, a technique which relies upon the effective use of strong contrasts to a achieve depth and volume. It is essential, therefore, to spend time at the start of a session setting in place an effective lighting arrangement. I generally make a number of preparatory sketches backed up by a reference photo. The latter serves as a helpful check on tones and shadows when completing the final drawing. I am keen to collaborate with other creative individuals.
