Since then, I've had messages from online readers (thanks Justin, "G", Shane D, Dennis H in particular), who noticed that nothing appeared from me after the Winter 2016/17 essay, in which I said, somewhat fearfully, that I was to be crucified in the Philippines. They thought that my silence was because I was dead following my crucifixion. They were curious about precisely what happened to me there, so I've sent them a narrative, together with some images. I reminded them that I was committed to return to the Philippines in about three weeks time to be prepared to be crucified again this coming Easter. One reason I am going back is that I am under a vow of obedience to Fra Calibaryo, who is the spiritual leader of "Guimaraes Pagtaltal", so my coming ordeal is inescapable. In any case, my motivation for being crucified has ben explained in previous essays. Like last time, he is funding my flight, but only for the outbound journey on the theory that if I die, money on the return leg would have been wasted. Also, he's said that if that happened, he planned to recoup the cost of the outward air fare by the sale of my body to medical agencies for anatomical study. Interest in me has already been expressed by a professor of anatomy at the University of Manila.
On a different theme, I recently came across an incredibly comprehensive downloadable online publication, "Arts Newsletter". it's in pdf format, monthly, the February issue runs to 33 pages, and contains everything one needs to know about what's going on in the art world in Wirral, Liverpool, Cheshire and North Wales. Included are details of Events, Exhibitions, Classes, Workshops, etc.the lot..... very attractively produced, and valuable for life models looking for work, I highly recommend it. Details about how to get hold of it can be found from davidartshead@yahoo.co.uk .
The silliest thing that's happened recently must be Manchester Art Gallery's removal, and hasty restoration back on the wall, of the pre-Raphaelite painting "Hylas and the Nymphs". I think that it's a pity that such an excellent gallery laid itself open to derision, and I can't understand what made them do this. The painting is not even faintly erotic! Which leads me on to the other event which recently attracted notoriety, the charitable "do" at the Presidents Club and the part played by the young ladies supplied by Artista. I was amused by media comments that the girls were "innodents abroad", being taking advantage of by rascally old lechers. I was interested in this escapade because it has echoes with what I do. Bill Garland, whom I have mentioned before and who uses me as his naked "muse" for figurative art, runs a sideline " Bespoke Boys in the Buff: Bold, Bare and Beautiful" or "6B." He's got nine guys on his list including me - our speciality is providing bodies for events where nude guys are needed, such as celebrations, charity do's, models for life drawing sessions at hen and stag parties, "butlers in the buff", bodies for bodypainting and bodycasting - you get the idea. Sometimes, event organisers want us to act as "still life" naked sculpture, or living artwork. Our earnings are the same as the Artista girls at the Dorchester, £150 for the "gig." We occasionally wear G-strings, sexy little loincloths or tiny aprons when specified, but as a rule we are naked (and oiled!). We are under no illusions as to what is likely to be done to us: at the very least, we expect to be fondled, pinched, groped, tweaked, but then we are proud of our bodies and delighted that we are giving pleasure to others. We hosted a Christmas "do" in Northwich for a Hedonists' Club last December. Having poured the wine and help serve the main course, I enquired of the organiser "what's the dessert - Christmas Pudding?"" No", was the reply - "Kenneth, YOU are the dessert!" So there I was, laid naked on a tablecloth, suitably garnished and ready to be wheeled in and served up............
A member of one of Bill's regular life classes, Hugh, is a Personal Trainer, and he asked me last month if I was prepared to place myself "under his wing". As it would be gratis, I said yes, and I now attend a naked high intensity fitness class at his private gym every Tuesday. Hugh follows the Right Path Fitness regime: its central theme is that working out naked allows the skin to breathe effectively and increases body confidence. It also gives you a better sense of one's natural alignment, says Hugh. And he ends the session with a deep tissue massage. Bliss!
God bless
